VISIT OF STUDENTS FROM THE FACULTY OF LAW OF THE SOUTH EAST EUROPEAN UNIVERSITY TO THE OFFICE OF THE OMBUDSMAN

Students from the Faculty of Law of the South East European University of Tetovo, organized in the Student Assembly and Association (SAA), which acts as an independent organization in SEEU, led by the students themselves, visited the office of the Ombudsman in Skopje.

During the visit, the Ombudsman, Mr. Naser Ziberi, introduced the students to the structure of the Institution, its competencies, the manner of working on complaints, as well as the mechanisms for the protection of citizens' rights, which, according to the Law, are at his disposal when he determines a violation of a right.

He also referred to the mandates carried out by the Ombudsman institution - National Preventive Mechanism, Mechanism for Citizen Control, Monitoring the Implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the Mechanism - National Rapporteur on Trafficking in Human Beings and Illegal Migration, with the help of which the Ombudsman is considered an institution with a broad mandate of action.

The students were interested in the way complaints are handled, especially in submitting complaints and processing them. The focus was also on the Ombudsman's cooperation with the bodies over which he acts competently, both at the central and local levels.
