ROUND TABLES IN BITOLA AND KICEVO ON THEME:”COOPERATION BETWEEN THE LOCAL SELF-GOVERNMENT AND THE OMBUDSMAN”

In organization of the Ombudsman Office with support of OSCE Mission to Skopje and Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) on 28 – 29 February in Bitola and Kicevo continued the serial of round tables on which was discussed on cooperation between the local self-government and the Ombudsman.

“In decentralization process which is ongoing municipalities got great part of central government competencies. Because of that there is need for cooperation between the local self-government and the Ombudsman who is competent to help citizens in realization of their rights.” – said Mr. Ixhet Memeti on the Round Table in Kicevo.
“Citizens can use possibilities which offer the Ombudsman institution. They ask for Ombudsman help mostly for problems in the field of urbanism and construction.” – said Ms. Liljana Ilievska, Deputy Ombudsman on the Round Table in Bitola.

According to Mr. Jovdat Mammedov, Deputy Head of the Rule of Law Department at the OSCE Mission to Skopje the Ombudsman institution contributes for development of democracy processes. “The Ombudsman promotes democracy, enables rule of law and because of that OSCE supports this institution.”- said Mr. Mammedov.
On the Round Tables has participated mayors of Kicevo, Struga, Drugovo, representatives of the local self-government and NGO-s.
