SEMINAR ON THEME: OMBUDSMAN’S EXPERIENCES IN DEALING WITH DEPRIVED PERSONS AND PROTECTION OF THE WOMAN’S RIGHTS – CHANGES AND DIFFICULTIES

In organization of the Ombudsman Office, the OSCE Spillover Mission in Skopje and the Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain on 13 November in Skopje was held Seminar on theme: “Ombudsman’s Experiences in Dealing with Deprived Persons and Protection of the Woman’s Rights – Changes and Difficulties”. The Seminar was held on the occasion of the visit of Mr. Fernando Garcia Vicente, the Ombudsman of Aragon – Spain.
“If on the beginning of the functioning of this institution the citizens asked our help on matters which are not in our competence and organs and agencies on which we are competent had no sense and doesn’t understand the Ombudsman’s role and hardly accepted our recommendations I have to stress that our Annual Reports from year to year shows tendency of greater acceptation of our interventions”. This among the other stressed Macedonian Ombudsman Mr. Ixhet Memeti in his presentation titled: “The Ombudsman of the Republic of Macedonia and proceeding in the field of police work and monitoring of situations in the penitentiary – correctional institutions”.
Experiences of the Ombudsman of Aragon in work of the police and penitentiary – correctional institutions were presented by Mr. Fernando Garcia Vicente, the Ombudsman of Aragon and the manager of the Sector for Internal Control and Professional Standards in the Ministry of Interior Mr. Voislav Zafirovski spoke on cooperation of the police with the Ombudsman in solving of the cases of abuse of police competencies. Deputy Director of the Prison “Idrizovo” Mr. Mitasin Bekiri had presentation on theme: “Cooperation of the penitentiary – correctional institutions with the Ombudsman”.
“Starting base in cooperation with the Ombudsman is protection of human freedoms and rights. In that direction the Ministry for Interior aims toward respect of legal deadlines for proceeding on Ombudsman’s interventions, then toward mutual trainings and working meetings with aim for improvement of the level of cooperation” – said Mr. Zafirovski in his speech.
Second part of the Seminar was dedicated on theme:”Protection of Women’s Rights”. On this theme discussed Deputy-Ombudsman Ms. Nevenka Krusarovska and Ms. Mirdita Saliu, manager of the Sector for Equal Opportunities of the Ministry for Labor and Social Politic, who had review on implementation of the Law on Equal Opportunities.
