MEETING OF THE DEPUTY OMBUDSMAN MR. VASKA BAJRAMOVSKA-MUSTAFA WITH THE COMMISSION FOR THE INTERNATIONAL CLASSIFICATION OF FUNCTIONING, DISABILITY AND HEALTH (ICF)

The Deputy Ombudsman, Ms. Vaska Bajramovska-Mustafa, together with the team for monitoring the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, held a working meeting with representatives of the Commission for International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF).

At the meeting, the Deputy Ombudsman, Ms. Vaska Bajramovska-Mustafa, presented the newly established body working within the Department for protection of children's rights and persons with disabilities at the Ombudsman, the goals, tasks and competences of this body, whereby especially referred to the Ombudsman's work so far in monitoring the situation with the education of children with disabilities, especially of children in Special schools, as well as the inclusion of children with disabilities in the regular education.

The head of the ICF Commission, Mr. Goran Petrushev, informs the representatives of the Ombudsman more closely about the manner of work of the Commissions and the National Body of ICF in the Republic of Northern Macedonia, and in that context, the activities for assessment of children with disabilities, as well as the provision of additional educational, health and social support, bearing in mind that the new model of functional assessment from 01.04.2019 is realized as a pilot project implemented by the Union of Special Educators and Rehabilitation of the R Republic of Northern Macedonia.

The Deputy Ombudsman and the head of the national body of the Commission agreed that there is a need for cooperation in the direction of providing protection and unhindered exercise of the rights of children with disabilities and their inclusion in the community on an equal basis with other children.
