MEETING OF THE DEPUTY OMBUDSMAN VASKA BAJRAMOVSKA MUSTAFA WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF THE UNICEF OFFICE FROM BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA

Deputy Ombudsman, Ms. Vaska Bajramovska Mustafa and a representative from the National Preventive Mechanism met with representatives from the UNICEF office from Bosnia and Herzegovina and their collaborators with aim to exchange experience in dealing with vulnerable categories of foreigners – unaccompanied children and families with children.
At the meeting Ms. Bajramovska Mustafa presented the experience and the activities of the Ombudsman undertaken in direction to promote, prevent and protect the migrants/refugees rights with focus on the vulnerable categories of foreigners.

Also, they discussed the efforts of the state bodies to deal with the refugees, the treatment towards them and the respect of their rights, so as the level of exercising the recommendations given by the Ombudsman.
The cooperation of the Ombudsman with the non-governmental and international organizations in identifying the needs and the problems of the vulnerable categories of foreigners was pointed as positive, especially in respect of the unaccompanied minors and the families with children.

The adoption of the Standard Operative Procedures for dealing with unaccompanied children-foreigners was pointed as a model that could be accepted by the rest of the countries for the purpose of easier and more efficient resolution of this problem.
